Scratches on the Window

submitted by Sky Bouvier

It was late one wednesday night and i was staying at my cousin Karrie and Kirsten's house along with my older sister Alison and my little sister Haily. we were all huddled on the blankets placed on the floor that my short aunty May set out for us while Haily went to the kitchen to get a glass of milk. we were watching a scary movie about a little girl coming out of a lake, when Haily started crying. she ran to the living room and started crying to Alison that she wanted her mom. Alison asked what was the matter and Haily said she saw a lady at the window with a white face that was telling her to come outside with her.

"Haily you're just seeing things," Karrie said, "you're just sleepy that's all." but haily just rubbed her eyes and shook her head. so, to stop her from crying, all of us went into the kitchen. Alison carried Haily and was the first to enter. Karrie and Kirsten were hugging onto me since they get scared easily.

Alison went over to the window and made Haily open her eyes, "see Haily, there's no one there!" but just after she said that, a lady as pale as paper appeared at the window. she was scraping on the glass and from what we could hear, she was saying, "come with me...come with me.."

we all screamed and ran upstairs to Kirsten's room. we hid under the bed until the scratching from the kitchen window faded away. but just when we thought it was over, we heard it again at Kirsten's window.

"Go look Karrie, " kirsten said to her sister.

"why me? it's your room! make alison go!" Karrie said back. sighing, Alison let go of Haily and got up, "i'll go check, but just to prove to you guys that there's nothing there."

we watched her go onto the bed and slowly open the blinds. all of our eyes were shut tight, afraid to look any longer. then we heard Alison scream! we all brought are heads up to see that there was a long deep scratch on the window. but that wasn't why Alison was screaming. we turned around because that's where Alison was looking, and saw the white lady standing in the doorway.

she was inching closer and closer saying, "come with me children...come with me!" she finally stopped when my mom Felisha yelled at us to keep it down. the white lady looked at us and said before she left, "you're taken...you're taken..." and then she was gone, and we never saw her again. and still, in the middle of the night, Kirsten still has nightmares of seeing the lady's white feet and her haunting voice.
